Silver Nuggets: Grievance against Heatley, Bingo on its way-o

Ottawa Senators news! Hell yeah!

  • First, a little housekeeping: We look slightly different today, with a redesign being implemented overnight. I'd love to hear your thoughts on the new-look Silver Seven, and the new-look SB Nation.
  • We mentioned the possibility four months ago, but it looks like it's happening: Eugene Melnyk has filed a grievance against ex-winger Dany Heatley for the $4M paid out on July 1 of this year. It'll be interesting to see how this pans out, but hopefully it doesn't give players second thoughts about signing here. (Sun)
  • The Binghamton Senators are in town this Sunday, to face off against the Hamilton Bulldogs, which I'm actually kind of excited to see--and it'll surely be a change from the Broome County Veteran's Memorial Coliseum or whatever. (Citizen)
  • Speaking of which, Duff took a look at how cool/uncool it would be to have the Senators' AHL affiliate right here in town. I think it'd be cool. (Another Sens Blog)
  • Bruce 'Malkin to the Kings' Garrioch is not afraid to call out Alex Kovalev. I'm hoping he wakes up sooner rather than later. (Sun)
  • Pretty cool article about Brian Elliott and the future of goaltending in the Senators organization. It will be interesting to see what happens after next season, when Elliott and Pascal Leclaire both have their contracts up. (Citizen)
  • Peter Regin's quietly assumed a solid NHL role this season, and he'd done so with minimal references to danish pastries or Vikings--until now. At least this article also talks about time travelling. (The Hockey News)
  • I guess I shouldn't be surprised the Senators weren't on the list of the nine best teams of the last decade, but I thought maybe the 2005-06 Ottawa Senators had a chance, they were stacked. Too bad Dominik Hasek couldn't hack it. (Puck Daddy)
