Senators World Junior Update

How are the Senators prospects doing in Sweden for the WJC?

As is tradition, the World Junior Championships began on boxing day - or at least the games that count. At this point, all teams have played one round robin game.

This year, there are three players participating in the tournament that are in the Senators system. Curtis Lazar, Ottawa's first round pick from 2013 is playing for Canada. Marcus Hogberg was picked in the third round 2013, and is minding Sweden's net. Quentin Shore was taken in the sixth round, and is playing for the United States.

In Canada's opener against Germany, Lazar notched an assist and three shot on net. He only took 3 faceoffs, winning just one of them. He will be on the ice again agianst the Czech Republic at 11:30am EST this morning.

Shore also came out of his first game of the tournament with an assist, as part of a 5-1 win over the Czechs. In addition, he had 2 shots on net and won all 3 of the faceoffs he took. Shore and the US team face Slovakia at 7:30am EST today.

Hogberg was dressed as the backup for Sweden's first game, though he did shut out Canada in pre-tournament exhibition play. I don't know if Hogberg will get the start, but Sweden faces Finland at 9am EST. However, it won't air in Canada until tonight at 10pm.
