Round 3, Game 4 preview: Pittsburgh Penguins @ Ottawa Senators

A preview of the game between the Ottawa Senators and the Pittsburgh Penguins on May 19, 2017

Coming off a 5-1 win on Wednesday night, the Ottawa Senators look to take a 3-1 stranglehold in the Eastern Conference Final series with a win on Friday night. The Sens are looking to repeat their strong start from Wednesday when they racked up four goals in an eventful first period. Kyle Turris added a fifth goal in the second period. Sidney Crosby broke Craig Anderson's shutout bid on a third period powerplay, but the game was well out of reach at that point.

Lines and pairings are still unconfirmed at this point as the status of Alex Burrows is still up in the air. Here are the expected lines at this point and they will be updated if more information becomes available.

MacArthur - Turris - Hoffman
Ryan - Pageau - Stone
Dzingel - Brassard - Stalberg
Wingels - Smith - Pyatt

Methot - Karlsson
Phaneuf - Ceci
Claesson - Wideman

Anderson (starter)
Condon

Some notes for tonight:

  • The Sens have held the Penguins to only three goals in three games. In the regular season, Pittsburgh opponents only held them under 2 goals on only 14 occasions.
  • The Penguins are changing things up on the back-end with Murray expected to get the start instead of Fleury.
  • In the regular season, Pittsburgh gave up 5 or more goals in 14 different games. In 11 of those 14, the Penguins bounced back to win their next next game.
  • Also in the regular season, the Sens scored 5 or more goals in 11 games. In 8 of those 11, the Sens stayed hot and won their next game.
  • Are the Sens Canada's team!? The Sens have added a new waving Canada flag sticker to the back of their helmets ahead of today's game. 12/20 Sens who dressed in game three are Canadian, meanwhile 7/20 Penguins came from Canada.
  • After his second-straight game with a 10-minute misconduct, Malkin now leads the playoffs with 34 penalty minutes.
  • The Penguins have scored 2 or less goals in six straight games. Can the #TheSystem keep them down again?
  • It was truly a full team effort for the Sens win on Wednesday night, ten different Senators picked up at least a point.
  • You can catch tonight's game at 8:00pm ET on NBCSN, CBC, TVAS

Here are some stats for the two teams tonight. All stats are from NHL.com except Corsi and Fenwick are from Corsica.
