Game 46 Preview: Ottawa Senators @ San Jose Sharks

The Sens look to sweep California as they face off against Erik Karlsson once again

After a couple of very surprising wins against the Ducks and Kings, the Sens go into San Jose with a chance to sweep the California road trip of death and move a little further out of the league’s basement.

This will also be their second time facing off against former captain Erik Karlsson and the last time this season (or ever????? #MelnykOut).

The lineup stays the same, with one exception: the newest Senator, Darren Archibald, will make his debut with the team. Colin White is out with a shoulder injury.

Puck drop is at 10pm EST, and you can watch live on CBC, TVAS, or Sportsnet 1.

Game Notes:

  • The Sens may have done surprisingly well against Anaheim and Los Angeles, but these days San Jose is by far the toughest of the trio, sitting comfortably at 3rd in the league with 59 points. They'll certainly have their work cut out for them.
  • Expect a return to the usual shot rates: San Jose is second in the league in shots per game, and the Sens give up the most shots in the league.
  • White’s loss will certainly be felt. The kid scored the OT winner against Anaheim and has been excellent all season.
  • We’re going full Hamburglar with Nilsson, it seems. He’s starting his third in a row.
  • Honestly though, I know it’s ridiculous to even think about, but how weird would it be if they actually put together another Hamburglar run, during this season of all seasons?/
