Game 12 Preview: Buffalo Sabres @ Ottawa Senators

After a road trip that can only be described as an abject failure, the Ottawa Senators will try to turn the tide tonight.

The Sens will play host to the division rival Buffalo Sabres, who are coming off of back-to-back losses.

Ottawa is riding a four-game losing steak, and coming off three road losses. They were outscored by a combined 15-7 on the trip, and outshot 125-72. The Sabres, meanwhile, have lost back-to-back overtime games against the Columbus Blue Jackets and Calgary Flames.

A Few Notes For Tonight...

• It was a busy day for Sens management, as they re-assigned Jack Rodewald and Christian Wolanin to Belleville, recalling Nick Paul, Erik Burgdoerfer, and Mike McKenna.
• With McKenna getting called up, it doesn’t appear that Mike Condon has a future with the Ottawa Senators anymore, even if he clears waivers. The goaltender is under contract until 2020, at a cap hit of $2.4million a year.
• Tonight is Sabres’ forward Jason Pominville’s 1000th game, so congratulations to him. It’s been a hell of a career, and he’s earned our respect. All that said, when you see that damned overtime goal played at least five times tonight, just try to remember what happened the next year. Your TV screen will thank you.
