Game 6 Preview & Open Thread: Ottawa Senators at Vegas Golden Knights

Vegas, baby!

NHL: Vegas Golden Knights at Ottawa Senators Marc DesRosiers-USA TODAY Sports

After a lacklustre Thanksgiving Monday game, the Sens are taking the show on the road.

The Golden Knights aren’t quite off to the start they were hoping for with a 4-3-0 record so far, though they would be sitting in the division lead if it weren’t for the unexpectedly hot starts from Edmonton and Anaheim. The Senators, meanwhile, are off to a great start if the target is dernier pour Lafrenière.

Artem Anisimov is again a game time decision after managing just 17 minute in practice yesterday. Anders Nilsson gets the start. It’s unclear for now who will be the extra body in the press box tonight.

Game Notes

  • Marc-Andre Fleury has started six out of seven Knights games so far this season, and came in in relief of Malcolm Subban after the 1st period of the seventh - against the team that is currently 29th in goals per game. But if you can’t trust your backup against the 2019-20 Ottawa Senators, who can you trust them against?
  • Mark Stone. That is all.
  • After three games with Tyler Ennis, Brady Tkachuk and Colin White are on to their fourth winger of the season with Anthony Duclair getting a shot tonight.
  • It’s not all bad news with the Ottawa’s special teams. They’re still looking for their first power play goal, but the penalty kill has been trending up with a success rate over 80% and ranked in the middle of the pack.
