What is Success?

In our Weekly Question, we ask you to tell us what you would consider a successful season for the Ottawa Senators

If we are being honest with ourselves, we all knew how this year was going to go for the Ottawa Senators: they are going to lose a lot of games, and sometimes they’re going to look bad doing so. Still, when a new season is upon us it can be hard to not get caught up in the excitement and the optimism. With the team now 2-7-1 after 10 games, 27th in goals for, 25th in goals against, and 27th in CF%, the reality is very much setting in.

When a team is unquestionably bad, fans are left to find enjoyment in unconventional places. We don’t so much count the wins and losses as the steps taken by the youngsters. We don’t monitor the power play’s efficiency, but rather if Thomas Chabot and Logan Brown seem like they could be the anchors of the man advantage for years to come.

So I put it to you, Sens fans: what does success look like for you this year? Do we care about the team’s record at all? Do you need to see big strides from the top prospects? Does Pierre Dorion need to make an improvement to the roster? Is getting top picks in the 2020 draft all that matters? Let’s hear about it in the comments.
