Weekly Question: What was your highlight of the Senators' Season?

It feels a little bit strange to be establishing myself as something of the resident optimist on this site considering how pessimistic I've been about some aspects of the organization. That being said, today I'm here to ask: in spite of the disappointing nature of the season, what was your favourite moment?

Cody Ceci's 1st Career NHL Goal against the St. Louis Blues:

In one of Ottawa's best games of the year, and what to many seemed like a real turning point at the time, the Senators took down one of the best teams in the NHL. Cody Ceci potted the winner on a wrister from the point that he set up beautifully with a flash of some of the skill that has people so excited for his NHL prospects. At the exact moment that puck hit the twine behind a befuddled Elliott, I could not have been more sure everything was going to be O.K for the Sens. Great goal to cap a great game.

Ales Hemsky's Outrageous Goal:

When Hemsky first came over from Edmonton, I would characterize the general feeling amongst Sens fans as "cautiously optimistic". Jason Spezza had long been in need of a skilled winger to compliment his game, and Hemsky seemed like he would fit the bill, but still there was some hesitancy in the fan base. Hemsky had been hurt a fair bit, he'd had a couple down years offensively, and he was coming from the neon blue apocalypse that is the Edmonton Oilers. But Hemsky was good right from the drop, and when he made an absolute mockery of the Tampa Bay Lightning, well, I think everyone was on-board.

Erik Karlsson Does His Thing Against Pittsburgh:

One of the worries for most Senators fans coming into the season was the health of Erik Karlsson. Those fears had already been mostly assuaged by December, but this goal against the Pittsburgh Penguins reminded us all of why he's one of the most thrilling players in the league:

As the off-season begins, I recommend bookmarking those videos and coming back to them whenever necessary. It's going to be a long time without Ottawa Senators hockey; you'll need a pick-me-up or two.
