Ups and Downs: Week 7

Not a single down this week. Amazing what playing Columbus and Philadelphia will do for you

It's hard to judge the Senators' week, seeing as they beat up on two weak teams in the Blue Jackets and the Flyers. On the other hand, they beat those two by a combined score of 7-0, and they came back to lose to the Red Wings in OT. Five of a possible six points is a great week, regardless of the opponents.

Biggest Ups: Craig Anderson

Andy finished with a .959 on the week, including back-to-back shutouts. 120 minutes and counting on the shutout streak.

Biggest Downs: Jared Cowen

It seems a little mean to make him Biggest Losses two weeks in a row, but there were slim pickings on the week. Being a healthy scratch after being untouchable so far this season says that Cameron is losing patience with the former first-rounder.

Goaltenders Trend Notes
Craig Anderson See Biggest Gains.
Andrew Hammond Out with an undisclosed injury that could very likely be a concussion.
Matt O'Connor
Didn't get off the bench this week.
Defensemen

Mark Borowiecki Borowiecki didn't have great numbers this week, but a lot of that was score effects I think. He and Wideman are definitely serviceable, even if I think Wideman is driving the pairing.
Cody Ceci Up and down week again. Too bad Wiercioch got hurt against Detroit, because they were looking like their old selves in that games.
Jared Cowen See Biggest Losses (despite the lack of down arrow)
Erik Karlsson Five points on the week is pretty good in my opinion
Marc Methot I can't say I noticed him a lot this week, which probably says he was doing his role well
Chris Phillips Apparently he was skating this week. I really hope he doesn't get to play, but I'm glad this injury won't affect him the rest of his life.
Chris Wideman
Another goal, but overall a pretty decent week for a guy who hopefully now has a permanent role with the team
Patrick Wiercioch Was looking to have a couple pretty good games, before what's likely a concussion put him out of the lineup.
Forwards

Alex Chiasson I think I could say the same thing about Chiasson every week and you wouldn't even notice
Mike Hoffman Nice to see Hoff actually get two goals this week
Curtis Lazar Lazar has looked really great with the fourth line. Considering how Neil and Smith have looked with some linemates, I give credit here to Lazar.
Clarke MacArthur I hope he's healing well
Milan Michalek Might be a little generous, but seeing Milo get a 5v5 goal this week was nice. He has fit pretty well on that third line.
Chris Neil The whole fourth line gets ups from me
Jean-Gabriel Pageau One assist on the week, a post hit that bounced out to an open Karlsson in the slot
Shane Prince
What will it take for Prince to get a shot over Puempel?
Matt Puempel
Puempel doesn't add anything in my opinion. I'm more than ready to see Prince in the lineup for him.
Bobby Ryan Four more points for him this week, leading to a career-high eight-game point streak. Jakob who?
Zack Smith The whole fourth line gets ups from me (Plus no dumb penalties)
Mark Stone Tasked with revitalizing the second line, his offensive totals have suffered
Kyle Turris Looks like the arm injury from last week hasn't carried over. His 10 goals have him 9th in the NHL in goal scoring
Mika Zibanejad Got his first goal in nearly a month this week, which hopefully means the floodgates are about to re-open
