The Noon Number: 43

Not quite the answer

43 - the number of goals allowed by the Ottawa Senators in the past 10 games.

No other team has allowed more than that in any 10 game stretch this season, though the Florida Panthers have matched it. But don't think that lets Ottawa off the hook for the season record - this isn't their worst 10 game stretch. That would be 45 goals, by going back just one game further.

The league average of the worst 10 game stretches is 35.77. The best of the bunch is Boston and Los Angeles, who sit at 29 goals in their worst 10 game run.

Magic Numbers

Despite the playoff hopes being dead for all practical matters, I'll keep these going until mathematical elimination.

The Senators can officially no longer catch Boston or Pittsburgh. While they can catch the Penguins in points, the Pens are guaranteed the tie breaker over Ottawa at this point.

Every percentage but two have gone up since Monday. The percentage against the Islanders stayed put, and Buffalo has dropped.
