Sterling Predictions: Mark Stone

The staff continue their predictions for the upcoming season.

Last year Mark Stone posted 64 points. After January 1st, no player in the league posted more 5v5 points than Stone's 32. Will Stone put up 70 points or more this year? Bonus: how many points will Stone score?

Trevor: As much as I love Stone, it's hard to see him getting 70 points this year. 70 points nowadays is top of the league production, and my gut says he'll take a slight step back. His season total will be 55 points.

Ary: Only 19 players got 70 points last year, so although I think Stone’s even-strength production was fantastic and think he can add onto that with added PP time, I don’t think his percentages stay that high. I’m going to go with 58.

Peter: No, I don't think Stone will post more than 70 points, although he'll probably come close. I'd guess he scores... 62 this year.

Richard: It’s hard to say no to this question as Stone seemed to get better and better as the year went on. I think he’s going to come into camp extremely confident and he’s going to get a lot more opportunity and responsibility. His success seems to be so fundamentally rooted in intelligence, creativity, and patience that I can’t imagine a significant regression in the quality of his play. I also think teams will be paying way more attention to him, and as a result, Ottawa’s ability to balance their top two or three lines as we did at the end of last year will be a significant factor. Mark Stone Will have 73 points next season.

Ross: I'm going to say yes. A full season of play on the first line, likely with Turris and MacArthur, should see him continue his torrid run to end last season. I'm going with 72 points for Marky Mark.

Callum: With a full season in the top 6, Stone will hit 70 on the dot this year.

Michaela: Stone is going to be on the radar of most teams this year, so I don't think he'll get more than 70 points. This is a tough adjustment for young players. He might get close, though. I'm going to say 60 points.

Ian: Stone had a crazy year last year, but I don't think he'll crack the 70 point level this year. I'm thinking he'll come close and pick up 68 points.

B_T: I definitely think Stone breaks 70. Another year of experience, and he'll get solid deployment for the full season. Stone will get 72 points.

Adnan: No. He will get 55.
