Stanley Cup Playoffs, day five: A skate-stomping good time
None of the eight series we're watching are on the verge of ending--although two of them could be as close as possible to clinching by the time tonight's action ends.
For today's feature game, we bring you the only tied series in action today:
This series has likely surprised quite a few people with its excitement. The Predators won convincingly in Game One and then Anaheim won convincingly in Game Two, and tonight one team will take the lead in the series. The Ducks will be without Bobby Ryan, who's serving the first of his two-game suspension for a ridiculous foot-stomp on the skate of Jonathan Blum. We'll also get to see another former Senators matchup, as Mike Fisher takes on Ray Emery. It should be an exciting game.
Fisher's had a monster playoff so far, and leads the Preds with 2G and 2A so far, while Ryan Getzlaf is leading the way offensively for Anaheim with 1G and 3A. Oddly enough, the two Peterborough natives in the series (Fisher and Corey Perry) have combined for 7P so far (3G and 4A). I bet people in that town are enjoying watching some local boys light it up.
Also happening today is Game Three of the Binghamton Senators series against the Manchester Monarchs. The B-Sens look to build on their come-from-behind overtime victory this evening to take the lead in the series, which is currently tied at one game apiece. Ryan Potulny leads Bingo in scoring with 2G, 1A, while Barry Brust has a 2.44 GAA and a .914 SP.
