Silver Seven is looking for new contributors

Come cover the Senators with us!

The Sens’ season is over, and now it’s time to look toward the future of the team. Silver Seven is looking for contributors to help cover what’s next for Ottawa.

What are we looking for?

We’d like to welcome contributors who are passionate about the team and want to share that passion with our community. Specifically, we’d like someone willing and available to chip in with previews, recaps, weekly features, and original pieces. We work together as a team to bring some of the best Sens coverage on the internet. We’re also looking for someone who participates (respectfully) with the community in the comments, because the community is what makes the site.

What’s it like being a contributor at Silver Seven?

We’ll let Spencer Blake and Beata Elliott answer that question.

Spencer: For me, applying to join S7S was a pretty intimidating thing. There was a point I wasn’t going to press send on my email. Since day 1, I’ve felt welcomed and, most important, like my opinion matters. I’ve been a die hard hockey fan since I was a kid and never thought I’d have the opportunity to write blog posts that create debate and discussion amongst fellow fans. It’s been really rewarding and I can’t wait for next season to start - despite my fears of how the Senators will handle the upcoming offseason of big, terrifying decisions.

Beata: This is going to sound very cliché, but Silver Seven really is a community, not just a blog. I never really felt welcome in hockey fandom before joining the Sens online community, but almost as soon as I started writing for Silver Seven, I felt like I was a part of this group. I was very nervous at first because I wasn’t sure how I would be received, but I immediately learned that I had nothing to worry about. My contributions were valued and appreciated, and I ended up learning so much and meeting lots of really great people. It’s also been a great way to keep up with the Sens even in a season as dismal as this last one.

How do you apply?

Please send a cover letter, resume, and writing sample to SB Nation’s talent manager for team brands, Jeanna Thomas, at jeanna.thomas@sbnation.com. You can also feel free to hit Jeanna up with any questions about the role or SB Nation in general.

If your background and experience don’t perfectly align with every single thing we’re looking for, but you believe you have the potential to thrive in this role, we encourage you to apply.

Not everyone can afford to pay for sports coverage right now, and that is why we will keep as much of the site's content free for as long as we can.

But if you are able to, please consider subscribing to help keep our articles free (and get a few extra perks).
