Silver Nuggets: What to do with Alex Auld?
Alex Auld is a nice guy. He also shares the same initials as me. What he is not however is a good goaltender, or at least not one that Paul MacLean trusts. With Craig Anderson having no timeline for his return, what do the Senators do with Alex Auld?
Robin Lehner is presumably not going to play every game. Bryan Murray has already said that Ben Bishop is going to get a game in Ottawa at some point, so where does that leave Alex Auld? Should the Senators choose to go with a tandem of Lehner and Bishop, that's two rookie goaltenders down the stretch. Lehner's played three games in the NHL this season and Bishop hasn't played since last season.
Most fans would still likely prefer both of them to Auld. Should Auld be sent down to the minors (Eugene Melnyk would have to pay him his NHL salary in Binghamton) or should he be placed on waivers?

Tonight's game
- Robin Lehner will start again. (Nicolas St-Pierre)
- Forward lines are the same. 1) Michalek-Spezza-Butler, 2) Greening-Turris-Alfredsson, 3) Foligno-O'Brien-Neil, 4) Smith-Konopka-Condra. (Sylvain St-Laurent)
- The defensive pairings are also the same: 1) Kuba-Karlsson, 2) Cowen-Gonchar, 3) Phillips-Gilroy. (Sylvain St-Laurent)
- In a shocking turn of events, Ian Mendes is the only person who predicts a Chicago win tonight. Peter said 3-1 Ottawa. (Senators Extra)
- Audio from this morning including Paul MacLean, Chris Neil, Jason Spezza and Chris Phillips. (Senators Extra)
General Sens News
- Craig Anderson would rather not go into details about his injury and has no idea when he might return. (Ottawa Sun)
- Will Ray Emery be cheered tonight in his first game back in Ottawa? (Ottawa Sun)
- Tim Baines doesn't want Dalton McGuinty to "mess with our Sens". Isn't Baines a Leafs fan? (Ottawa Sun)
- Chris Phillips thinks Erik Karlsson has made the entire defence better for the Ottawa Senators. (Senators Extra)
- Tonight Ray Emery, the former temperamental Senators goalie, will meet the current one - Robin Lehner. (Senators Extra)
- Brian McGrattan is one of the few people to enter the NHL substance abuse program and return to play in the NHL afterwards. (Nashville Scene)
- Our Nashville Predators friends find Erik Karlsson's candidacy for the Norris Trophy to be humorous. Shea Weber plays 2:29 a game on the PK, Karlsson plays 0:35 a game. That extra 1 minute and 54 seconds a game apparently overshadows everything else. (On The Forecheck)
