Silver Nuggets: Shannon in for Kovalev; Pascal who?

Busy day today, plenty of Ottawa Senators news items for you to enjoy heading into tonight's matchup against the Buffalo Sabres:

  • With Alex Kovalev out of the lineup, Ryan Shannon draws in to the second line. Your lines for tonight: Regin-Spezza-Alfredsson; Cullen-Fisher-Shannon; Ruutu-Kelly-Neil; Foligno-Smith-Winchester. (Twitter)
  • Your 2009-10 Ottawa Senators: Tough enough. I should say so. (Citizen)
  • I missed my deadline this time, but the prediction panel still favours the Senators. (Citizen)
  • Milks is pretty sure Ottawa will be fine without Milan Michalek. (Black Aces)
  • Brian Elliott is making us forget all about Pascal Leclaire. (TSN)
  • Geez, how good would Ottawa be right now with a decent powerplay? Sheesh... (Citizen)
  • Matt Cullen's somewhat relieved that the team has won a few games now, and he's not Sens kryptonite or something. (Citizen)
  • A couple folks look at our two impending UFA defencemen, Anton Volchenkov and Andy Sutton, and what Ottawa could/should/might do with their rights: Ottawa Consensus; Sens Chirp)
  • UPDATE: Patrick Wiercioch's Denver Pioneers lost in a huge upset today by the RIT Tigers in the NCAA Hockey Tournament. (CSindy)

  • Eric Gryba, Ottawa's third-round pick in 2006 (68 overall) might be joining Binghamton for the remainder of the AHL season (which is, admittedly, only 8 more games). (Sharp)
  • Defenceman Paul Baier was named Bingo's Man of the Year for the 2009-10 season. He's nominated for the league-wide man-of-the-year Yanick Dupre Memorial Award, which Matt Carkner won in 2006-07 and then Denis Hamel took in 2007-08. (Sharp)
  • Some folks expect prospect Robin Lehner to at least challenge for starting goaltender with Binghamton next season. Which is too bad, considering the lovable Not Martin Brodeur and CHRIS HOLT! are currently there--which one moves on? (Sault Star)
  • A history of hockey video games? Awesome. (Gunaxin)
  • Upper Deck renewed their trading-card deal with the NHL, and they're not the only name in town anymore: Panini is also making cards this year. (Upper Deck; Panini)
  • Finally, from 30 Rock last night, the Senators' new pump-up song. "Make a hockey-lovin' face at Scotiabank Place!" Greatest pump-up music of all time, Parisi. Of all time. (Video from Sens Town)
