Silver Nuggets: Senators sign Butler; Zibanejad contract details

Happy Bastille Day everyone! Vive la France! If I was better at French, I could sprinkle in some more french here and there, but alas no. Anyway, I got nothing else, so here are today's links:

  • The Ottawa Senators finally reached an agreement with Bobby Butler, signing him to a two-year deal. The contract is one-way, thus bringing the Senators one-way contract count to 12 forwards. In addition, there are Nikita Filatov, Stephane da Costa and Mika Zibanejad on two-way deals. So, it should be an interesting camp. (Ottawa Senators)
  • Yesterday, the Senators of course signed Mika Zibanejad to an entry level contract. The base salary is $925,000 plus a signing bonus of $92,500 and potential performance bonuses of $850,000. Since there is no bonus cushion this year, the total cap hit will be $1.775 million should Zibanejad make the team. (Capgeek)
  • Meanwhile, the Murrays don't feel Zibanejad is currently ready to play in the NHL, but should he have a good summer of training, it is possible he might make the team in the fall. (Ottawa Citizen)
  • Here is a look at each club in the Northeast Division. On paper, the Senators should finish last in the division, However, the Senators should have made the playoffs last season on paper, so you never know. (Senshot)
  • Chris Neil will be replacing Mike Fisher as the honorary chair of Rogers House. (Ottawa Sun)
