Silver Nuggets: Senators/Panthers; Air Canada threatens to withdraw NHL sponsorship

The Ottawa Senators take on the Florida Panthers tonight, looking to win consecutive games for the first time since they beat the Florida Panthers on February 23. In attendance tonight will be aspiring rapper and NHL general manager, our own Crooklyn Banks.

In other news, after I was forced to be toiling away on OS 5 even though RIM released OS 6 last summer, Rogers has finally released a certified version of Blackberry OS 6 for the Bold 9700. After updating last night, I am very, very pleased. Tonight's Sens hero? Rogers Wireless. What does this mean for you? It means you can listen to my inane mobile ramblings with greater efficiency.

Also iPhone sucks. Apple sucks. Blackberry: The official mobile phone of Silver Seven Sens.

General Sens News

  • Jason Spezza is enjoying his role in helping Bobby Butler and Erik Condra adjust to the NHL. He also isn't ruling out a return to the playoffs next year. (Sun)
  • Robin Lehner finally played a hockey game for the first time in 19 days, but got shelled for 5 goals on 33 shots. He is obviously not going to play again Friday, but I would like to see him again on Saturday. (pressconnects.com)
  • David Rundblad and Jakob Silfverberg play Game 2 of their first round playoff series today at 1 p.m. Eastern. You can check the scores and point scorers here. (FlashScore.com)
  • Ryan Shannon has had a decent season, and with all the trades, he is getting a lot more ice time now. He may never be a top six forward, but I would rather have a guy with speed and some semblance of hockey skills rather than a goon on the fourth line. (Citizen)
  • Matt Carkner is unsure if he will return this season. (Citizen)
  • Jason Spezza and Chris Neil defend former teammate Zdeno Chara's hit. (Sun)

General Hockey News

  • Air Canada, (headquartered in Montreal, Quebec), is threatening to pull all its sponsorship with the NHL due to the Zdeno Chara no suspension decision, and other serious injuries. Meanwhile, the Quebec government is requesting a police inquiry into the incident. This of course in a province where MMA is legal (of course it is also sadly legal here as well now). Right... (TSN)
  • During a break in play, Allan Walsh counted a total of 18 headshots on the jumbotron in a promotional video in Anaheim last night. He thinks the culture has to change, and I agree. (Allan Walsh)
  • For those of you that like junior hockey, Ottawa will host the CHL All-Stars versus the World Junior Champions, the Russians, on November 10. (Sun)/
