Silver Nuggets: Senators lose 5-3 to Maple Leafs; Regin injured

Now that the Senators have lost two in a row to the Maple Leafs in pre-season, they just have to win when it counts on the Saturday after this one. Right? No? Having blown a 3-0 lead to Montreal in their last home game, the Senators blew a 2-0 lead and lost 5-3 on the night. Should we prepare ourselves for this?

• After Chris Neil's hit on Mikhail Grabovski, Nick Kypreos thinks it was incidental and that there won't be any suspension. I can only assume those !@#$!@# at TSN will contradict him. I think it was a collision similar to Steckel/Crosby from last year, but the difference to me was that Neil seemed to stick his elbow (I think) out at Grabovski's head when he saw him coming. General Sens News

• With Peter Regin's injury, and Stephane Da Costa also missing the last game with a minor injury and Mika Zibanejad scoring once again, you have to think he's playing on opening night in Detroit. Zibanejad though, seemed to genuinely feel bad for Regin and you can see that if you watch the videos above. (Ottawa Sun)
• Daniel Alfredsson isn't happy that the Senators will have played the night before every single game against Toronto this season. Alfie also had this gem, "Toronto's been rebuilding for some time, we've just started our process." Ha! Funny Alfie! (Ottawa Sun)
• Jason Spezza talked to ESPN and here is a list of ten things to know about the Senators this season. As expected, Spezza is involved in this list. (ESPN)
• Paul MacLean feels David Rundblad is 'outstanding' when he has the puck, but his play without the puck needs improvement. Rundblad hasn't decided whether he will play in the AHL or go back to Sweden if he doesn't make the Ottawa roster. MacLean obviously prefers the AHL option. I think Rundblad will make the Ottawa team, his play is much improved from the first game against Toronto. (Ottawa Citizen)
• One of Ottawa's other Swedish prospects, Andre Petersson, doesn't seem too thrilled about playing in the AHL either. When asked if playing in the AHL will be good for him, he says "I don't know. We'll see about that. I'll take each day as it comes. So I don't know." (Press & Sun-Bulletin)
• Wayne Scanlan spoke to Peter Regin yesterday (before the game) and he felt good and was looking forward to a better season. Hopefully the injury isn't too serious, I feel bad for the poor guy. (Ottawa Citizen)
• Defenceman Bobby Raymond has been very excited to be part of the main Ottawa camp. He got the chance to play on the power play with Sergei Gonchar in practice, which he feels helped make the transition easier. While he is going back to the AHL, just being at an NHL camp is a step up for him. (Lucknow Sentinel)
• Every time Matt Puempel scores a goal for Peterborough, the team will donate $10 to The Children's Wish Foundation. In addition, a local business will add $20 per goal and $5 per assist. The total tab is up to $40 so far. (MyKawartha.com)
