Silver Nuggets: Senators go for ten in a row against Canucks; Lehner angry

The Ottawa Senators play the Vancouver Canucks tonight. I hate to do this, but the Senators keep losing so here are the streaks. The Senators have lost nine in a row and fifteen out of sixteen. On the other hand, they have come very close in losing four straight one goal games (if you don't count the empty netters).

Many of you may expect a rout tonight, but the Senators played it tough against the Red Wings. I hope the Senators make it worth my while to stay up late tonight. At the time of writing this, there is no word on the expected starter. Brian Elliott will get the start.

Here are today's links.

Tonight's game (Sportsnet East, RDS):

  • Everyone predicts a loss tonight with only (the ever hopeful Ian Mendes) thinking the Sens won't lose by at least four. (Sens Extra)
  • Elliott starts... (Sun)/

More to follow after the jump.

General Sens News

  • Robin Lehner was visibly angry after the Islanders game. He was upset that Kevin Poulin kept chirping at him and then backed off. But he was also upset that they lost the game. I love this kid! (Sun)
  • Our all-star roster is getting a lot of interest from other general managers in the league. (Sun)
  • Cory Clouston feels that the Senators' present struggles will make him a better coach in the long run. Well, I am glad someone is benefiting from this. (Sun, Citizen)
  • Brian Elliott is trying to stay positive. Sure why not? (Sun)
  • The Senators are now third last in the NHL after the New Jersey Devils won yesterday. A loss tonight for the Senators will drop the Senators into second last in terms of points per game. (NHL.com)
  • Kaspar Daugavins is apparently rumoured to be heading back to Latvia. (Sens Town)

General Hockey News

  • Sidney Crosby is out until at least March and possibly for the season. With Evgeni Malkin already out for the season, Alex Kovalev for a first rounder anyone? (TSN)
  • Ray Emery is back, signing a two-way contract with the Anaheim Ducks. (TSN)
  • Wisconsin's Phil Kessel does not talk with Ron Wilson too much. Wilson must be a Steelers fan. (TSN)
  • Foppa's back! Peter Forsberg signs with a Colorado Avalanche team that is unlikely to make the playoffs. Still it will be great to see him play again! (TSN)
