Silver Nuggets: Senators/Bruins reaction; Zibanejad quietly performing

After last night's win, the Senators are clinging to the eight seed in the pre-season standings, just one point ahead of the Boston Bruins. Tomorrow night's opponents, les Canadiens, are languishing in last place having lost both their games. The Canadiens have allowed 9 goals while scoring only 4 so far.

  • Don Brennan feels Craig Anderson is going to have play like the Tim Thomas of last season for the Senators to make the playoffs. Also, Chris Phillips doesn't feel attendance will be a problem this season because "True hockey fans aren’t going to just sit at home and wait for things to turn around". (Ottawa Sun)
  • Mika Zibanejad apparently talks so softly that reporters have to push their microphones right next to him. He didn't have the best of starts last night, but the effort was always there, finishing with him scoring the overtime winner. On the subject of his twitter account, he likes interacting with fans (though his tweets have been very brief), but he promises to pay more attention to it once camp finishes. (Ottawa Citizen)
  • Speaking of Swedish players with twitter, Erik Karlsson explained to Ian Mendes that he closed his account so quickly because "tweeting isn't for him". Karlsson added that the Senators staff encouraged him to make an account. (Ian Mendes #1, Ian Mendes #2)
  • With Shane Prince getting to play a pre-season game last night, another local player, Jean-Gabriel Pageau will also play at least one pre-season game according to Paul MacLean. (Ottawa Citizen)
  • Here is an interview Joy Lindsay did with Bryan Murray from a Binghamton point of view. Murray mentions what it means for prospects to play in the AHL, his plans for Robin Lehner and the importance of a winning culture. (Press & Sun-Bulletin)
  • Robin Lehner played with a cold against Toronto and was disappointed that it happened at this point, where he is trying to force Bryan Murray's hand. Lehner also says that while his goal isn't to play for Binghamton this year, but he has nothing against playing there. (Press & Sun-Bulletin)
  • You might have this already in yesterday's comment, but just in case, the Senators have two players in The Hockey News list of top 10 Calder Trophy candidates. David Rundblad is #2 and Jared Cowen is #9. (The Hockey News)
