Silver Nuggets: Regin back in, Heatley demoted again
A couple of notable news items while we wait a few days for the Ottawa Senators' next game, on Thursday against the Nashville Predators:
- Looks like Peter Regin's back and ready to go from his injury, and might have bumped Ryan Shannon out of his spot at centre on the third line. (TSN)
- I don't know if Sharks coach Todd McLellan has a death wish or something, but he's demoted winger Dany Heatley to the second powerplay unit. Awkward... (Globe & Mail)
- Unclear at the moment, but Filip Kuba could be ready to play on Thursday against the Preds, as could Jesse Winchester. Kuba could be slotted in, but I doubt Winch is going to bump anyone. (Citizen)
- One of those filler stories with Chris Campoli, but it's funny that the biggest hit he's taken in his career was courtesy of current teammate Anton Volchenkov. (Citizen)
- Red Fisher isn't sure who the Montreal Canadiens' fans were cheering for on Saturday, old friend Alex Kovalev or their home team. (Gazette)
- Hockey's Future takes a look at the Senators' organizational depth. It's a so-so analysis, but it's still cool to see where some of the Sens' prospects are these days. (Hockey's Future)
- The Binghamton Senators are now 2-2-2, on a four-game winless streak. There's room for improvement. (B-Sens official site)
- Although Robin Lehner's only 3-3-1 now, his GAA is still fifth-best in the OHL at 2.40 and his SP is third at 0.931. (OHL.com)
- Update: Ottawa is ranked 10th in TSN's Power Rankings this week: "The Sens only losses have come to the Power Rankings' top two teams (the Rangers and Penguins) and those are the only games in which Ottawa has surrendered more than two goals against." (TSN)
