Silver Nuggets: More about Ottawa's scoring depth

We're in the playoffs! We're in the playoffs! Here are some Ottawa Senators headlines:

  • The Senators benefit from the icing rule. (Behind the Net)
  • Ottawa needs Alex Kovalev to be awesome in the playoffs. Just like they needed him to be awesome during the Senators' pre-Olympic streak. (Sun)
  • Peter Regin's newfound scoring touch has not gone unnoticed. How great has he been on that first line? (Citizen)
  • Regin also remembers everything about his first shift, including the teammates he was on with. I wonder if he remembers who was on for the opposition? (Faceoff)
  • A really cool look at Patrick Lalime's journey to 200 career wins, 146 of which came while as a Senator. (Die by the Blade)
  • Former Senator draft pick Greg Zanon isn't growing a beard. Apparently when throwing your body in front of and blocking several 90mph pucks, your face sweats hair. (And more Zanonisms.) (Hockey Wilderness)
  • The B-Sens take on the B-Pens tonight, and Bingo's just about eliminated from the playoffs. The B-Pens are just about clinched, but they're careful they won't take Jonathan Cheechoo lightly. (Times Leader)
  • Newly signed Senator Eric Gryba is down in Binghamton, getting the hang of pro hockey. (Press & Sun Bulletin)

Robin Lehner's arrived in Binghamton, too, with much fanfare. He should get a game or two before the season's out. (Press & Sun Bulletin)

Sens prospect Jeff Costello has fallen off his early-season pace with the USHL's Cedar Rapids RoughRiders, with only two points (2G) in his past ten games. He's still got 29G, 19A, 48P in 52GP, though, which isn't too bad.

Finally, let's take another look at the goal that clinched the Ottawa Senators' 2010 Stanley Cup Playoff berth. That faceoff win by Spezza right onto the tape of Karlsson is something else.
