Silver Nuggets: Line juggling, Captain Cowen, Lehner off to a good start

Here's a slightly late Ottawa Senators new rundown for today. There may be updates, if news comes along.

  • After their 5-2 loss to the Rangers last weekend, the Senators have shuffeld their lines all up. In practice, the top line of Jason Spezza, Milan Michalek and Daniel Alfredsson stayed the same, but Mike Fisher moved to centre between Alex Kovalev and Nick Foligno, Peter Regin went to the third line between Jonathan Cheechoo and Chris Neil, while Shean Donovan was slotted in on the fourth line with Jarkko Ruutu and Chris Kelly. Word is Ryan Shannon might have a concussion. (Sportsnet, Ottawa Citizen)
  • But don't let the juggling fool you, Cory Clouston's not concerned about the lack of goal scoring. At least not yet. (Ottawa Citizen)
  • First-round choice last year Jared Cowen's back with his junior team, the WHL's Spokane Chiefs, and he's been named team captain. I look forward to seeing his dominance there, as well as in the World Junior Championships this year. (The Raw Feed)
  • In his first few games in the OHL, 2010 second-round pick goaltender Robin Lehner's done pretty well for himself with the Soo Greyhounds. His team is a perfect 7-0 so far, with Lehner winning three of those games and compiling a .935 save percentage (tops in the league) and a 2.00 goals-against average (second only to teammate Bryce O'Hagan). (OHL website)
  • Captain Alfredsson gave credit to rookie Erik Karlsson for not screwing up too badly in his first NHL game. I think he did pretty well, as well, all things considered. (National Post)
  • Update: Although Karlsson acknowledged he could have done better, he also realized he could have had a worse debut, too. His biggest problem will be making his decisions quickly, and as long as he knows that, he should learn the ropes quickly enough. (Ottawa Sun)
