Silver Nuggets: Lehner to stay in the minors; Binghamton return home to a parade

As I am rather sleepy after only four hours of sleep last night, so everyone will be spared some of my introduction and I will dive straight into the links! Well, almost. I will post these comments from Robin Lehner below. They were posted in yesterday's comments, but I will post it again.

"All you naysayers and critics, you can go hide somewhere. You can never take this away from me. I'm not saying I'm going to go play in the NHL (right away). That's a long road ahead. But you can never take away from me that I'm a Calder Cup champion and that I got the MVP here."

General Sens News

• Bryan Murray confirms that he expects Robin Lehner to start the season in Binghamton for at least the first 30-40 games. He does say though, that if Craig Anderson gets injured next season, whomever we sign as a backup will remain a backup and Robin Lehner will get the majority of the NHL starts in that scenario. This would also imply that we are going to sign a backup goaltender that isn't capable of filling in as a starter. (Sportsnet)
• Nichols acknowledges that while some of the Binghamton players will likely never play a big role in Ottawa, Robin Lehner and Jared Cowen are a couple of the blue chip prospects that will benefit from this run. He also compares the career paths of Robin Lehner and Carey Price. After winning the Calder Cup, Price played 10 more games in the AHL the following season before being called up to the NHL permanently. (The 6th Sens)
• Speaking of Binghamton, they had a parade yesterday to celebrate their Calder Cup win, attracting a crowd of around 5,000 fans. (Press & Sun-Bulletin)
• The Calder Cup championship has to provide some vindication for Bryan and Tim Murray as they were both often criticised in Ottawa as well as Binghamton this season. (Ottawa Sun)
• The SB Nation mock draft will start today and two teams will select each day. This means picks #5 and Ottawa's #6 will be on on Saturday. I would like to invite Peter Raaymakers to the podium. "With the sixth overall pick in the SB Nation Mock Draft, Silver Seven Sens select..."

• The NHL has moved to ban all hits that target the head, whether it is blindsided or not. However, hits where the head isn't the primary target (but gets hit anyway) are still legal. (Yahoo!)
