Silver Nuggets: Lehner starts again for Bingo; Heatley "gutless"

Anyone who complains about this year's playoffs (aside from the obvious and unpleasant lack of Ottawa Senators in it) has got to be crazy. Each series has had ample excitement, with every team looking at times poised to move on. In just nine nights of action so far, we've already seen 94:30 in extra hockey thanks to sudden death overtime; that's like getting an extra game and a half of hockey action! No extra charge. (Taxes extra. Offer cannot be combined with any other discounts.)

Binghamton Senators playoff hockey continues tonight. The B-Sens are down 3-2 in the series, but with Robin Lehner starting, they'll try to avoid elimination. Ryan Potulny, who has scored more than 40 per cent of Binghamton's goals (7 of 17), will almost certainly be instrumental to any success the B-Sens have in extending their season.

Nuggets today are brought to you by lentils, I guess. We'll call them the official legumes of the Silver Nuggets.

General Senators news:

  • The B-Sens are determined to force a game seven in their series against the Manchester Monarchs. (Press & Sun Bulletin)
  • Meanwhile, the Monarchs are looking for the clincher tonight. (New Hampshire Union Leader)
  • Binghamton will start Robin Lehner again tonight. WBNG quotes Mark Twain as the lede to this story about minor-league professional hockey... is it just me, or does that seem wrong? (WBNG Action News)
  • Lines for tonight's B-Sens game: Daugavins-Potulny-Keller, Greening-O'Brien-Condra, Wick-Z. Smith-Butler, Dziurzynski-Bass-Grant. (Joy Lindsay)

General NHL news:

  • There are two NHL games tonight, plus B-Sens AHL action:
  1. Binghamton Senators at Manchester Monarchs (7 p.m. on TEAM 1200. Monarchs winning series 3-2.)
  2. (7) Buffalo Sabres Ryan Miller at (2) Philadelphia Flyers (7:30 p.m. on TSN. Series tied 2-2.)
  3. (5) Nashville Predators at (4) Anaheim Ducks (10 p.m. on TSN. Series tied 2-2.)
  • If the Murray family gets together for Easter dinner this weekend, Bryan and Terry can share stories about how gutless Diminished Dany Heatley is. Terry's problem with Heatley stems from the latter's ugly slew foot on Kings' defenceman Alex Martinez in last night's game. (SenShot)
  • Craig Anderson just missed the list of Vezina Trophy nominees. The three finalists are Roberto Luongo (that's bad timing), Pekka Rinne, and Tim Thomas. My vote goes to Rinne. (NHL)
  • Acquiring Brian Elliott was the best thing that happened for the Colorado Avalanche drafting position. (Mile High Hockey)
  • Andrew Ference gave Habs fans the finger (who can blame him?) and then proceeded to deny it, apparently not realizing the the video evidence was as clear as day. He was fined $2500 for the transgression. (NHL)
  • Chris Kelly came back from injury to lead Boston to their series-tying win last night. (Boston Herald)
  • An eulogy for the Phoenix Coyotes season. Or is it a mourning for the team itself? We'll find out in time. (Puck Daddy)
  • A look at the past relocation of the Coyotes from Winnipeg, and their potential future relocation back there. (New York Times)
  • Ilya Bryzgalov doesn't want to live in Winnipeg. (Puck Daddy) That doesn't surprise me, considering his thoughts on Edmonton's climate...
