Silver Nuggets: Is every Ottawa Senator struggling?

it's an off-day today, but we've still got a few Ottawa Senators headlines to dive in to:

  • UPDATE: Pascal Leclaire won't travel with the team to Nashville. Mike Brodeur will be re-re-called to back up Brian Elliott. (Sun)
  • Cory Clouston didn't want to name names, but said the skilled players have to play better for the Sens to win. I'll name some names for you, Cory: Jason Spezza, Daniel Alfredsson, Mike Fisher, Milan Michalek, Alex Kovalev, Sergei Gonchar, and Filip Kuba. Those guys need to play better, and especially more consistently, for Ottawa's fate to even begin to improve. (The Expositor)
  • On the plus side, Gonchar knows he has to be better. (Citizen)
  • Ottawa's goalie curse may not be helping Pascal Leclaire, but he seemed to be a little cursed even before he got to Ottawa. (Citizen, via Times Colonist)
  • Ryan Shannon is apparently going to donate his brain to science for concussion research when he passes. (Pro Hockey Talk)
  • This year's IIHF World Juniors may be a three-horse race, with Sens prospects playing key roles on two of the teams: Jared Cowen for Canada, and Robin Lehner for Sweden. The third horse is the defending champion USA squad. (The Hockey Writers)
  • The Binghamton Senators honoured Festivus in style over the weekend. (Puck Daddy)
  • Finally, an apology: We missed ups and downs this past Monday, but we'll try and offer you a double-dose next week.
