Silver Nuggets: Goalies _____; Canada's worst team?

Here's a look at the Ottawa Senators headlines as we wait for the regular season to commence:

  • "Senators goalies have yet to step up". Ever. (Citizen)
  • I'm pretty sure Nick Foligno won his fight against Dale Weise. (HockeyFights)
  • A little piece on David Hale and his unexpected spot on the Sens' blue line. His thoughts: "I'm not satisfied, but I'm definitely happy." (Citizen) (UPDATE: David Hale is already on waivers.)
  • Jarkko Ruutu says he wants to stay in Ottawa. Not sure what else he'd say, though... (Sun)
  • One year after the Dany Heatley trade. Spoiler: Ottawa still got hosed. (From the Rink)
  • Ben from Sens Army is back posting now and again, and he thinks Bill Guerin is "the player the Sens have always needed". (Sens Army Blog)
  • The Ottawa Senators: 35/1 for the Stanley Cup, 16/1 for the Eastern Conference championship, and 4/1 for the Northeast Division banner. (Puck Daddy)
  • Hockey's Future gives their rating of Sens' prospects. (Hockey's Future)
  • Fluff piece on the Sens' team-building exercise. (Citizen)
  • Puck Daddy resident shit disturber Ryan Lambert thinks the Senators will be the worst Canadian team this year. Which is exactly what he said going into last season. Exactly. To the word. It's like a Mad-Libs season preview:
Ryan Lambert, Oct. 4, 2010:
"TSN will say that a Canadian team is, in fact, the odds-on favorite to win it all, before conceding that, OK, maybe half of the other 24 teams in the league have a chance of being better than the worst Canadian squad (Ottawa). Then Sportsline or somebody will predict the Wild will win the President's Trophy because they haven't seen a hockey game in, like, six years."

Ryan Lambert, Sept. 28, 2009:
"TSN will say that a Canadian team is, in fact, the odds-on favorite to win it all, before conceding that, OK, maybe half of the other 24 teams in the league have a chance of being better than the worst Canadian squad (Ottawa). Then Sportsline or somebody will predict the Lightning will win the President's Trophy because they haven't seen a hockey game in, like, six years."
