Silver Nuggets: Elliott to start against Sabres
Saturday night's alright for a re-enactment of the historical fights between the Ottawa Senators and Buffalo Sabres! Here are some headlines as we hope desperately for a win:
- Brian Elliott will get the start tonight, so we might get to see a Senators goal or two! (@NHL_Sens)
- There is a bit of a split on the prediction panel, but the two leaders (Graeme Nichols of The 6th Sens and myself) pick a Sens win. (Sens Extra)
- Bryan Murray is still trying to trade Brian Lee, and lost in the shuffle is the career of a young and--believe it or not--still promising defenceman. (Citizen)
- Don Brennan is a goof. "What kind of a man stands for being referred to as fragile?" So... these (mostly) 200-plus pound professional athletes don't meet his arbitrary standards for an arbitrary, meaningless label, I guess. (Sun)
- On the other hand, take a look at Allen Panzeri's take on the fragile-team talk. Notice a difference in tone? (Citizen)
- Ottawa's going to battle to right the ship. Count on the Senators website for a nice dose of optimism whenever you need it. (Sens)
- In Mike Chen's aggregated power rankings, the Senators actually gained a spot this week, and sit at 23 in the league (10 in the East). (From the Rink)
- Massey hates goalies. (Copper & Blue)
- Great news: On top of his scoring prowess, Jared Cowen is also playing well defensively. Or at least he did on Friday night. (Spokesman-Review)
- Maple Leafs fans are still optimistic about the future and their prospects. Maybe I'm biased, but I just don't see all that much there. (Pension Plan Puppets)
