Silver Nuggets: Elliott to start against Canadiens

The Ottawa Senators look for their second win of the season tonight against the Canadiens. Here are some headlines for game day:

• Brian Elliott, obviously, gets the start. Robin Lehner was called up after getting hammered for seven goals last night in Binghamton (more on that later), and will be tonight's back up.
• Amazingly, the entire prediction panel has predicted a Senators win tonight. (Citizen)
• It begins: Whenever a player like Pascal Leclaire is on the outs with fans for some (perceived or real) weakness, the Ottawa Sun panders to their readership and piles on. First instance: Don Brennan's attack on 'Porcelain Pascal' and his suggestion that he can never again be trusted. Ever. (Sun)
• Second instance: Bruce Garrioch's less inflammatory article that still seems to suggest Pascal Leclaire is somehow at fault for his injury problems (i.e. "If only Leclaire could spend less time in the doctor’s office and more time on the ice"). Not that he was likely to stick around after this season anyway, but now it seems it's only a matter of time until he's Emery-ed (or Corvo-ed) out of town. (Sun)
• Exhibit three: Brennan says he sort-of-but-not-really-but-sort-of "hope[s] that it's significant", referring to Leclaire's injury, before Garrioch once again suggests Leclaire's at fault for not 'sucking it up'. Do these guys know what a groin injury means for a butterfly-style goaltender? Seriously. Get a grip, fellas. (Sun)
• Neither Nick Foligno nor Cory Clouston thought Foligno's hit on Patrick Dwyer on was particularly heinous. (Citizen)
• But Leclaire's injury does open the door for Brian Elliott to grab the reins and keep them--right into negotiations for a contract extension. (Citizen)
• Defenceman Matt Carkner on the Sens' first win, and tonight's game against the Habs. (Sens Blog Central)

• The B-Sens, as I said, lost 7-1 on Friday night, and Lehner allowed all seven. Corey Locke score Bingo's lone goal, and Sheldon Souray had one assist for the Hershey Bears. (Press & Sun Bulletin)
• Ottawa's ECHL affiliate Elmira Jackals, though, scored seven goals to win their season-opener 7-3.
