Silver Nuggets: Elliott starts; the Kovalev fiasco
Since I've missed a couple of days, loads of headlines for you as the Ottawa Senators get set to host the Atlanta Thrashers tonight:
- Brian Elliott gets the start. (@NHL_Sens)
- Cory Clouston's sticking with his new defence pairings tonight, meaning Filip Kuba and Sergei Gonchar stay together, and Erik Karlsson plays with Chris Phillips. (Sun)
- UPDATE: Prediction panel for tonight. No, I don't have a good reason for picking the Senators to beat the NHL's second-hottest team. (Sens Extra)
- Sigh... we've hardly mentioned the Alex Kovalev 'scapegoat' fiasco, but if you'd somehow missed it, here's Ken Warren's take on it. (Citizen)
- Jeremy Milks has the presser on his website. (Black Aces)
- The Ottawa Sun took their problems with the star to the next level: Don Brennan, Bruce Garrioch, Jason York, and Earl McRae all took their shots at Kovalev. Of them all, Garrioch's was--strangely enough as this is to say--probably the most fair.
- Playoffs? Things don't look good. (Citizen)
- Mike Brophy's take on the Senators 'shake-up or blow up' dilemma. (Sportsnet)
- A good look at how far both the Devils and the Senators have fallen since meeting in the 2003 Eastern Conference Final. (Citizen)
- His career-worst slump is taking it's toll on Daniel Alfredsson. Tonight, maybe the Thrashers are just what the doctor ordered to get over it... although they are the second-hottest team in the NHL, so it won't be easy. (Sun)
