Silver Nuggets: Donovan misses practice, Pens post-game reactions

Here's a collection of Ottawa Senators stories that have made the rounds in the last 24 hours:

  • Shean Donovan didn't skate at practice, nor did Daniel Alfredsson. Alfie is likely just skippin' practice (as usual), but we'll keep you posted on Donovan's status as more details leak. Donovan left the game last night after a knee-on-knee collision with Matt Cooke. (Twitter)
  • Lines at practice: Michalek-Spezza; Foligno-Fisher-Shannon; Ruutu-Kelly-Neil; Cheechoo-Regin-Winchester. I'd expect the lines at tomorrow night's game against the Sabres to be very similar.
  • The Citizen hopes that the Ottawa Senators are able to convince Alfie to stay with the Sens organization in some sort of capacity. (Citizen)
  • Senators president Cyril Leeder blames inconsistent and confusing ticket prices for the somewhat poor turnout to start the season. Other factors include the Sens' slide in performance over the past three years, lack of season ticket buyers, and the frequency of home games to start the season. (Province)
  • Jared Cowen, Ottawa's first round pick at this year's Draft, was named alternate captain of Team WHL during the Subway Super Series against Russia. (Our Sports)
  • Sens prospect Mike Hoffman now has 11 goals in 15 games for the QMJHL's St. John's Sea Dogs. (Telegraph)
  • Reactions to last night's 6-2 victory over the Pens: Citizen, Another Ottawa Senators Blog, Black Aces.
  • UPDATE (from Peter): Personal hero Dean McAmmond played his first NHL game of the season last night, and in the process worked his way up from the fourth line to the first and had an assist in the New Jersey Devils loss. He is on a 63-point pace.
  • UPDATE: A good feature at on Bryan Murray's perspective on how the team has done as it reaches the quarter point of the season. (NHL)
