Silver Nuggets: Binghamton looks for 2-0 lead; Alfredsson injury rumours

The Binghamton Senators continued their strong road play, winning their seventh straight game away from home. They will play tonight hoping to take a 2-0 lead back to Binghamton. Also, with Canada's elimination, the remaining Senators in the World Championships are David Rundblad and Jakob Silfverberg of Sweden and Milan Michalek on the Czech Republic. The Czechs will play Sweden in the first semifinal tomorrow, so be sure to watch it if you are awake at 10 a.m. on Saturday.

UPDATE: Actually the semifinals were today, Sweden beat the Czech Republic 5-2 and Finland beat Russia 3-0. Michalek had an assist, Rundblad and Silfverberg didn't record a point. Rundblad played sparingly, playing only 6:13 and didn't play at all in the third. Not sure if he was injured or struggling.

Without further delay, here are today's links, brought to you by the University of Waterloo, the official school of the Silver Nuggets.

General Sens News

  • While it is just an unconfirmed rumour, Nichols over at The 6th Sens has been told that Daniel Alfredsson currently can't walk down the stairs without losing feeling in his leg. At some point, should we start to worry that Alfie might not play next season? Even if he does, can he realistically play in the top six? (The 6th Sens)
  • Robin Lehner, while pulled after the first period last night, will start again tonight. (Joy Lindsay)
  • If you want to see the Binghamton Senators play in Game 5 of the Eastern Conference final, the Red Scarf Union and Sens Chirp are organising a trip. Cost is $90 including tickets and bus fare. (Ultimate Tours)

General Hockey News

  • With the NHL not guaranteeing that the Atlanta Thrashers will play in Atlanta next season, one of the clubs' owners was asking fans if they know anyone who will buy the team. HA! (Yahoo!)
  • Michael Grabner, who was waived by the Florida Panthers and then went on to score 34 goals, and finished 8th in the NHL in even strength goals, has signed a 5 year $15 million extension with the New York Islanders. (Yahoo!)
  • Alexander Radulov might be returning to the Nashville Predators. If there is one thing the Predators need, it's a guy who can create offence with some individual skill. Radulov led the KHL with 80 points in just 54 games this season. (Yahoo!)
