Senators throttled by Bruins in 3-1 loss

In the end, the Senators' season finished the same way it started: with a whimper. An uninspired Senators team went through the motions, and got the result they deserved. Tim Thomas, THE Sens Killer, was never going to lose against a team not giving maximum effort. Though the Senators talked about playing for pride, at the end of the day, the game was meaningless, and it showed in the play of most.

Some of the younger players will now return to Binghamton and try to assist that team in winning the Calder Cup. Others will head off to play for their countries in the IIHF World Championships. But all of them will have many long months to wonder if they could have done better. Games like this will only add to those thoughts.

Sens Hero: Bobby Butler
Easily Ottawa's best player on the night, Butler was playing like it was a game seven. He backchecked as hard as I've ever seen him, went after every loose puck he could find, and scored Ottawa's only goal -- off his own rebound. Butler finishes the year on a three-game goal streak. If he can play this way every night, he'll be a real asset to the team next year.

Sens Killer: Tim Thomas
As usual. There's not really anything I could write here that would be hyperbole. Thomas owns the Senators. He wasn't spectacular in this game, but he didn't have to be. He looked like Craig Anderson usually does for us: He made sound positional saves, he made timely saves, and he made the occasional robbery. Game over, man. Game over.

Highlight of the night: Z. Smith vs. Nathan Horton
In a fight that had the NESN announcers practically crying for the officials to save Horton from the fury of Z. Smith's Tiger Punch, there were some really nasty... wait! What's that?

Ladies and gentlemen, we're going to go live to Silver Seven Sens fight correspondent Clubber Lang.

Clubber, do you have a prediction for this fight?

Thanks, Clubber.

On to the mayhem:

That was pretty awesome, huh?

Everyone else sucked

Yeah, pretty much. No real zeros, just a team that played like they knew their season was over.
