Updated: Sens Proposal Not the Only LeBreton Bid to Contain a NHL Arena

Now that the extended deadline for submissions has come and gone, the Senators (as part of Rendez Vous Lebreton) have made it to the next round of the decision making. The other group that submitted a proposal was DCDLS Group (formerly Devcore). The only detail we knew of their proposal was that it was to include a "grande allée" with multiple cultural institutions, but CTV Ottawa had some interesting news on that front:

So it looks like either way, the Senators could move downtown - though if they would do so without having ownership of the building is a question that would need an answer.

Neither Focus Equities (international organization HQ) or Claridge Homes (concert space) submitted a detailed proposal.

The NCC will take the time between now and the public consultations on January 26th and 27th to go over the proposals to ensure they meet the requirements. Unfortunately, we won't be getting any more details specific to the proposals until those public consultations, as the NCC veil of silence remains in place until then. The NCC has finally released the Request for Proposal document that the bidding groups were working with, however. You can try to dig through that here.

After the consultations the NCC expects to take about a year to make their decision, with the announcement coming in early 2017.
