Senators sign Shane Prince to three-year entry level contract, Benoit to one-year deal.

In the midst of free agent frenzy, the Ottawa Senators announced today that they've signed Shane Prince to an entry level deal. TSN is also reporting that the Senators have signed defenseman Andre Benoit to a one year deal worth $650,000. No word yet if it's one-way or two-way, although it's hard to see how he'd land a one-way deal with little NHL experience.

Prince was selected 61st overall in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft, and tallied 90 points (43G, 47A) last year for the Ottawa 67s, good for fourth in points in the league. After he failed to make the USA's team at the World Junior Hockey Championships, he went on a bit of a tear from that point on and really turned some heads. He was named the OHL player of the month for January, and won the Brian Kilrea award for his community involvement.

Although Prince could return to the 67s as an overager, it seems safe to assume that Prince will start next year in Binghamton Senators. As a native of New York state, he might not hate it as much as Andre Petersson.

Benoit was a key member of the Binghamton Senators during their Calder Cup winning season, and they certainly missed his presence on the blue line last season. It's a good pick up for the Sens to help fill up the BSens with a solid defenseman who put up 55 points with them just two years ago.
