Senators sign Ryan Shannon to one-year deal

The Ottawa Senators have just announced that they signed forward Ryan Shannon to a one-year deal. According to Bruce Garrioch, the deal is worth $625k (not the previously reported $675k) --a modest raise from his current salary of $600k.

Shannon's size will always be an issue, but when he plays with fast wingers (like recent linemate Peter Regin) he creates countless chances with his speed. If he was signed to a low-cost deal it's a good depth signing for the Senators.

Shannon was set to become an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season.
