The Ottawa Senators have signed 23 year old defenceman Geoff Kinrade to a one-year, two-way contract. Kinrade recently attended the Senators 2009 Development Camp.

Kinrade signed an amateur tryout contract last season with the Norfolk Admirals, the AHL affiliate of the Tampa Bay Lightning. He played 10 games with the Admirals, notching a goal and three assists. He also played one game with the Tampa Bay Lightning. Prior to signing with the Admirals, he played four U.S. college hockey seasons with the Michigan Tech Huskies.

The two-way contract and the Senators' overabundance of bottom-pairing defensemen suggests that this is signing is mostly to improve the Binghamton Senators, and add a little depth to their system.
