Senators Re-Assign Pageau to Binghamton

After Saturday's game, Pageau was re-assigned to the Binghamton Senators.

As per Brent Wallace of TSN, the Senators have re-assigned Jean-Gabriel Pageau to Binghamton of the AHL.

As per the current NHL regulations, Pageau does not have to pass through waivers. He signed his entry-level deal at age 19, and played fewer than 11 games in the lockout-shortened season, so he maintains his waiver-exempt status for another two seasons or 100 NHL games. This season Pageau has two goals and three assists in 23 games. He was averaging 13:15 per game. He was 51.6% on faceoffs, the only player on the team above 50% who has taken more than 10 draws. He also has more faceoffs taken than Curtis Lazar and Zack Smith despite appearing in fewer games than either, showing the trust Cameron had started to put in him to take faceoffs.

This move is interesting, since Chris Neil is out indefinitely with a broken thumb.

Even if Clarke MacArthur is healthy again, this leaves the Sens with 11 healthy forwards and 8 healthy defencemen. Smith is still expected to be out for weeks, so a trade is a very real possibility.
