Senators prospect Andre Petersson signs three-year deal

We can't even take a momentary break without something new happening with the Ottawa Senators today.

After announcing a three-year extension to Bryan Murray and a one-year contract to free agent Pat Cannone, the Senators announced the signing of Swedish prospect Andre Petersson to a three-year entry-level contract. The deal means that Petersson will likely come to North America next year and compete for a spot in the Ottawa Senators system.

Petersson, 20, was drafted in the fourth round (109 overall) of the 2008 NHL Entry Draft. Over the course of three seasons, he's scored 28P (18G and 10A) in 78GP with HV71 Jankoping of the Swedish Elite League. He won the SEL championship with Jankoping in 2010, and win a silver medal that year with the Swedish national team at the World Junior Championships.

He'll join other Swedish players Daniel Alfredsson and Erik Karlsson, as well as notable prospects David Rundblad, Robin Lehner, and Jakub Silfverberg in the Senators system.
