Senators by the Numbers: #46
Daniel Guerard R 1994-1995
Born in Montreal in 1974, Guerard was part of Ottawa's inaugural draft class, selected 98th overall in 1992. Guerard played for the Victoriaville Tigres and the Verdun College Francais of the QMJHL. While productive, his junior career was interrupted by injury and he never played a full season in the QMJHL. He spent the bulk of his time with the Senators with the organization's AHL affiliate in P.E.I. In 1994-1995 he played two games for the Ottawa Senators. The two games were the only ones he would play in the NHL. While he showed potential with the P.E.I. Senators in 1994-1995, and injury the following year destroyed his potential. In 1997 he moved to Europe, and in two seasons played in Austria, Slovenia, Germany, and France. He returned to Canada during the 1999-2000 season and played semi-pro hockey in Quebec until 2004. I have no idea what he's been doing for the past decade.

Patrick Wiercioch D 2010-2011, 2012-2013, 2013-2014
Born in Burnaby, British Columbia in 1990, Wiercioch was drafted 42nd overall by the Ottawa Senators in 2008. A childhood friend of current teammate Kyle Turris, the pair played together with the Burnaby Express as teens. After two successful seasons with the University of Denver, he turned pro, joining Bingo in 2010-2011. He made his NHL debut in 2010-2011, playing 8 games with the Senators. His career was jeopardized when he suffered a life-threatening injury on December 9, 2011. He took a Radko Gudas slapshot in the throat in a game against the Norfolk Admirals. Initially, doctors were unsure if he would recover and he was unable to speak for two weeks. Remarkably, he returned to the Binghamton lineup six weeks later, on January 27, 2012. Early in the lockout-shortened 2012-2013 campaign, Wiercioch was recalled by the Senators and has remained in the NHL since,re-signing this past summer.
