Senators Announce Erik Karlsson as new Captain
As part of the Bobby Ryan press conference, the Senators also announced the 2014-15 season leadership group.
While the Ryan contract news was certainly significant enough, the Sens were done there:

Erik Karlsson will be the ninth captain in team history, marking a full shift to the new core of the team. There isn't anything surprising in this news. Erik Karlsson and Chris Phillips had been rumoured as the two options to fill the captaincy void left by Daniel Alfredsson Jason Spezza. The Sens aren't likely to remove letters from veteran players Phillips and Chris Neil.
