Ryan Dzingel's Three Point Night Not Enough

Binghamton Senators lose again, this time to the Hershey Bears by a 5-3 margin.

This sucks.

I had a prior engagement tonight in watching my nephew lead his team to a win by scoring three goals while adding two assists in a 8-6 victory, so I unfortunately missed tonight's Binghamton Senators 5-3 loss down in Bears' country in Chocolate Town, USA.

After reviewing the highlights and some social activity, it's just the same rhetoric comments as in the past with the 'defense sucks', 'Andrew Hammond can't win' and 'send him back'' , 'where's the coaching' (or lack of), etc. etc. etc. It gets really tiring and frustrating after a while. So does the losing. No one is happy with how the season is going in Binghamton.

And really, how can you blame them.

When a winning NHL goaltender is sent down for a conditioning stint and loses back-to-back games, where do you turn next? Hammond was the one that saved the Ottawa Senators season that brought the hamburglar craze in leading a memorable run in the post season for the Senators. Surely he can get a couple of wins as he's been proven winner in the NHL, right?

Not so fast. On Saturday night he let in four goals on 16 first period shots that led the Hershey Bears to a 5-3 win (excluding an empty netter). On Friday, it was a shaky outing for Mr. Hammond with him leaving the net for a loose puck that eventually ended up in the back of the net for Springfield's third goal with Andrew sprawling flat on the ice, high in the slot. Awesome.

As mentioned, the defense has some holes and continues to be the weak link which isn't helping. Plus, there's a lack of depth on the offense side with a mixture of veterans and some rookies with a couple of second year pros.

Frankly, it's just a big mess for this organization as it currently stands.

And as far as concerning Hammond, thanks but no thanks. You're more than ready after giving up eight goals in two games.

POST GAME NOTES

- Rookie goaltender Matt O'Connor has unfortunately cost the BSens some points while still on the learning curve in developing at the AHL level.. (Although he should've spent some playing time in Evansville, but that's a whole different story.)

- Defense needs to step up and find some type of congruity amongst themselves with Fredrik Claesson and veteran Mark Fraser leading the way. Pat Mullen has been fine on the offense side, as that is where his earnings's stop while defensively he's a total bust.

- Luke Richardson continues to mix up the line-ups to find a winning combination by moving Max McCormick around, as he should also move Nick Paul off the first line and transfer Eric O'Dell in his place.

- Don't know what the line-ups looked like but at the AHL website, in italics, this is who started;

On D - Mark Fraser, Patrick Mullen

Up Front - Colin Greening-Zack Stortini-Travis Ewanyk

- Shots ended up in favor of both teams tied at 32 a piece. Ryan Dzingel ended up with three assists as he has produced a goal and 8 assists in his last 5 games.
