More eliminations but the Habs live on to see another day!
The Flyers weren’t able to shut out the Habs any longer and find themselves needing another game to officially eliminate Les Canadiens. While the results were expected, fans are going to miss the twitter entertainment from both the Columbus Blue Jackets and Carolina Hurricanes accounts; hopefully they stick around longer than their on ice counterparts.
Tampa Bay Lightning 5, Columbus Blue Jackets 4, TBL wins series 4-1
While some of us hoped that the ghosts of last year’s first round would haunt the Bolts, it seems they learned their lesson this time around. The Lightning were obviously the better team throughout the series but the Blue Jackets deserve credit for how they stuck around. They were very close to pushing a Game 6 today but at the end; the Bolts made sure to end the series the same way they started it; an OT win. At least the Blue Jackets still have one of the most likable Captains in the league?
Colorado Avalanche 7, Arizona Coyotes 1, COL wins series 4-1
Watching this series; it really is surprising this wasn’t a clear sweep by the Avs. Nazem Kadri completely took over in this series and today; they made sure there was no coming back for another game. With Taylor Hall and Phil Kessel on the team, you would think that the Coyotes would be more of a threat but they never seemed to have gotten it together in this series. It will be interesting to see what the future holds for them
Boston Bruins 2, Carolina Hurricanes 1, BOS wins series 4-1
This was one of the crushing results of these playoffs as the Hurricanes have managed to win a lot of hearts over in the past two years. Luck wasn’t on their side as they faced one of the most aggressive and experienced teams remaining and the big bad Bruins proved to be a little too much to handle. That being said, the future is really looking bright for the Hurricanes and if nothing else, they’ll always be the most entertaining bunch of jerks around.
Montreal Canadiens, 5, Philadelphia Flyers 3, PHI leads series 3-2
The only elimination game that actually moved to a game 6; the Habs decided to score a goal (or 5) today. The Flyers are a quick and skilled team but this could have been a case of being too comfortable after the last two games and the Habs speed and energized play seems to have taken the Flyers by surprise. Luckily, the Habs are still on the brink and the Flyers will probably play a more determined game in the next contest to make sure they don’t risk a disastrous comeback by the Habs.
Vancouver Canucks 4, St Louis Blues 3, VAN leads series 3-2
The Canucks managed to battle through last night’s game to put the Champions on the brink but it wasn’t easy as they had to come back from a 3-1 deficit in the second period. The Blues won’t be an easy opponent to eliminate but the Canucks must be relieved they’re not the team fighting for their playoff dreams next game.
