A team pushed to the edge and two other waiting for dominance

Even though getting closer to the Stanley Cup is exciting, don’t we all miss having 3 games per night to watch?

Last Night’s Game

New York Islanders 0, Tampa Bay Lightning 8 (TBL leads series 3-2)

This series has been a lot more fun than people give it credit. Both team have shown dominance at different stages but last night the Bolts showed that they have a completely different level to their game. Steven Stamkos started off the scoring less than a minute into the game and added a fourth goal to really shut down any Isles comeback ideas. Alex Killorn also joined in the 2-goal night fun and even Luke Schenn scored. To be honest, I had forgotten he was in the league. To make matters worse for the Islanders, things got feisty at the end of the second period as Mathew Barzal got frustrated and cross checked Jan Rutta in the face. He was ejected from the game and could possibly be facing a suspension. Not the player the Isles want to lose for Game 6 if they want a chance at tying the series up.

Tonight’s Game

Montreal Canadiens @ Las Vegas Golden Knights @ 9:00PM (Series tied 2-2)

There was a good argument in Game 4 that Montreal would be heading to Vegas with a 3-2 lead in the series. That being said, the Knights got lucky again with one incredible performance from Robin Lehner and a lucky bounce in OT to have them tie the series going back home. The Habs may regret not sealing the deal at home and giving the Knights momentum heading into a game 5 at home. The Knights haven’t been the better team in this series but they are great at getting lucky bounces and taking full advantage of every opportunity. The fact that the Habs have this series tied at this point is both surprising and impressive. I still think the Golden Knights will win this series but it’s a bit amusing that it’s not happening as easily as most people thought it would.
