Peter Regin files for arbitration

We reported earlier that Chris Campoli has elected salary arbitration, well, now word is in that Peter Regin has also filed for arbitration. This no doubt has Bryan Murray sweating nervously, as Regin was a bright spot for the Senators last year, and one of the most exciting forward prospects the team has had in years.

Despite Regin's high-end potential and his terrific finish to last year, it seems like it would be difficult for his agent to argue for a big contract. As it stands, Regin's basic statistics are nothing to write home about -- in 86 games over two season, he has put up 14 goals and 31 points. This is about the only time you'll hear me being thankful that Clouston held him back by keeping him on lines with Jesse Winchester, Ryan Shannon, and Jonathan Cheechoo.

Peter previously wrote an excellent article looking at Regin's RFA status, which you can find here.
