Pageau is Ottawa bound

Okay, technically Buffalo bound first

The Senators recalled Jean-Gabriel Pageau today (et en Français).

With Zack Smith being injured yesterday against Boston and expected to be out for months, and Chris Neil "week to week", the Sens have become perilously thin up front on the active roster. Milan Michalek is expected to return to the lineup so the need wasn't critical, but it left the team with no margin for error.

Down in Bingo Pageau has put up 8 goals and 10 assists in 26 games this season, which ties him for third in team scoring. In pre-season play Pageau skated circles around Montreal on their home ice with an absurd 71.43 CF% at even strength, was a mild positive possession player in Toronto and a mild negative possession player in Winnipeg. He failed to record any points in any of those three games, however.

Hopefully Pageau will be seeing ice time in a sensible spot in the lineup, rather than just having been called up to be the spare forward. And hey, hopefully he can recapture some of the old playoff magic against the Habs on Saturday.
