Senators Sign Mike Kostka to One-Year, Two-Way Deal

Not done shoring up the B-Sens yet, the Sens signed the defenceman to a two-way contract.

On a very slow day for the Ottawa Senators, another minor-league move was made.

Kostka is an undrafted 29-year-old, right-handed defenceman. Last year he played 7 games with the Rangers, recording one assist. He also played 63 games with the Hartford Wolf Pack, recording five goals and 25 assists. In NHL stints with the Maple Leafs, Blackhawks, Lightning, and Rangers, he has 20 points in 70 games played. In 406 career AHL games, he has 214 points. He also has two points in four career NHL playoff games, and 18 points in 41 career AHL playoff games.

The Sens already have a log-jam on defence, with six players on one-way contracts plus Cody Ceci and Chris Wideman. The Sens also already have six defencemen in the AHL (not counting Ceci or Wideman), so this signing may signal that the Sens don't expect to sign college free agent Kevin Tansey.
