Sens win 5-2 over Preds, extend win streak to 5
Gaudette, Zub, and Tkachuk each had 2 points
It's too early to call the Sens a wagon, but they're definitely rolling. That's now five wins in a row, and several of them in the dominant fashion. Yet again tonight, they were the better team, outshooting the Nashville Predators 39-27. They were stronger for most of the night, and 11 players ended up with points, while Anton Forsberg made 25 saves in the win.
The first period wasn't very exciting. The highlight definitely came on a Sens powerplay, when the Predators played the puck into their own net, but the refs called it off for goalie interference. Travis Green would challenge the call, and it stayed, but I still have no idea way. The Preds shoved the puck into their own net and got away with because Drake Batherson exists.

The second period saw things open up. Filip Forsberg actually put the Preds in front after a Jake Sanderson rebound flew out of the zone, setting up a bizarre chance the other way, but then the Sens took over. First Adam Gaudette scored this hand-eye beauty:

And then last week's third star Jake Sanderson stayed hot with a nice goal of his own:

The Preds would get one back early in the third to tie it up, a powerplay goal by Jonathan Marchessault, but then Ottawa took control. First Shane Pinto got his 11th, assisted by Adam Gaudette accidentally kicking the puck away from goal.

Then David Perron got his first as a Senator, off the head off Adam Wilsby, who apparently is a real guy.

The Preds really didn't mount much of a comeback, and Ridly Greig sealed it with an empty netter. That makes it five in a row, with the Sens back in action tomorrow night against Tampa.
Thoughts:
- Nice to see Adam Gaudette get a couple points, and that first goal was a thing of beauty.
- Is the Sens' second powerplay unit the better unit right now?
- Anton Forsberg looks pretty comfortable in net. The first goal was a fluke, the second was on the powerplay. Having several confident goalies is a great problem to have.
- I also want to shout out Pinto, who on top of the goal, had seven (7!!) shots on goal. Big game from SP12 (nobody calls him that) in the absence of Josh Norris.
