3.06 - The goals-against average (excluding shootout goals) of the Ottawa Senators this season, fourth-worst in the NHL. Only the Carolina Hurricanes (3.08 GAA), Columbus Blue Jackets (3.28 GAA), and Tampa Bay Lightning (3.37 GAA) allow more goals per game than the Senators.

All said, the Sens have allowed 162 goals this season. Craig Anderson (2.93 GAA) has allowed 131 of them, Alex Auld has allowed 28 (3.57 GAA), Robin Lehner has allowed two (2.00 GAA), and opposition teams have only score one empty-net goal on the Senators.

(Side note: Maybe the Senators should play the same kind of defence with a goaltender in the net as they do without one.)

Of the Senators goals against, 107 have been at five-on-five, 36 have been while one man down, eight during four-on-four play, six while short-handed, and three during two-down penalty kills. There was also one goal on a penalty shot (scored by Trevor Lewis on 23/01/2012), and the one empty-net goal allowed (scored by John Carlson on 07/12/2011).

Ottawa averages 2.92 goals for per game, which is far below their goals against average but still stands as eighth-most in the league.
