NHL Free Agency: Senators sign G Mike Brodeur

More help for Binghamton in this most recent Ottawa Senators signing, as goaltender Mike Brodeur has signed a one-year, two-way contract with the organization.


Brodeur played in both the ECHL and AHL last year, and played in the AHL All-Star Game (ironically in place of Senators goaltender Brian Elliott, who had been called up to Ottawa). In 38 AHL games, he was 18-13-4 with a save percentage of .921 and a goal-against average of 2.45. He was drafted by the Chicago Blackhawks in the seventh round (211 overall, just like Erik Condra... weird) of the 2003 NHL Entry Draft.

Expect Brodeur to play in Binghamton this season. His signing was likely the reason why Jeff Glass wasn't given a qualifying offer by the Senators, although it's still possible for Glass to re-sign in Ottawa.
